Jamie Gray is enlisted to join the Kaiju Preservation Society on an alternative world.

About half of this book seems to be Scalzi setting out all the research (real and imagined) for his world and biology for the Kaiju.

It’s not until the second half that he wheels out the moustache twirling super villain to provide drama, excitement and a suitable ending.

It may sound trite, but combined with sharp dialog and  multiple references to modern media it really works. Like his other books, Scalzi keeps the pace going and the tone light.

Yet another of his books worth the read.
