Cowspiracy

Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret is a 2014 American documentary film produced and directed by Kip Andersen and Keegan Kuhn.

The film explores the impact of animal agriculture on the environment—examining such environmental concerns as climate change, water use, deforestation, and ocean dead zones—and investigates the policies of several environmental organizations on the issue.

This movie has a definite message to push. And while some of the facts may be a bit old (like how much water it takes to produce beef), I have heard most of this argument before, Mainly from the Climavores (now Latitude) podcast.

The most interesting part was the reference to the Oprah Winfrey Beef Burger Case (1997). Then, Howard Lyman  talked about ‘mad cow disease’. This resulted in a court case from the Cattle industry.

But this movie, with it’s direct allegations towards Green organizations seems to have had little push back. It appears that the Cattle industry has opted to ignore the movie rather than sue.
