TV 2024

The TV series for 2024, from worst to best:

A Remarkable Place to Die
This NZ crime drama had potential, location, stars and production quality. The individual crimes were sometimes intriguing, funny and nuts. But the overall story arc landed with a “what happened” thud at the end.

Fool Me Once
A rather contrived Thriller

Star Trek Discovery
Proving once again that the show has everything but decent stories.

Star Wars: The Acolyte
So many story problems.

The 3 Body Problem
Like the book, long and boring

Space Island One
This 1998 SciFi series show it’s age. While some of the episodes were good,it quickly descended into the usual tropes

Colin from Accountants Series 2
Aussie Comedy Series. OK, but not as good as the original series.

Dr Who Season 14
Just a bit better that previous modern series

Ghosts Season 3
The “family” comedy with the Kiwi lead.

You Are What You Eat
Documentary on food. Interesting premise, but heard most if it before. It does descend into preaching at the end.

Electric Dreams
Separate Sci-Fi stories. All good. Features Brian Cranston & Janelle Monae.

Mr Bates vs The Post Office
The series everyone watched about the Horizon scandal.

Halo
Based on the Game. In the end, average.

The Dragon Prince Book 6: Stars
This series is good. But with all the characters I wish I
had waited until all 7 series were out before beginning.
(there are so many interesting characters I forget about them between series)

The Day of the Jackal
Tense Thriller

Ludwig
David Mitchell makes this a treat

Star Trek Picard (Seasons 1-3)
Fortunately I watched all together.
One of the best Trek series.

Star Trek Prodigy
Goes to show that with animation you have to work out
your story before committing to production. Great Show.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 3
Probably the best animated Star Wars series

The Twelve
Second series of an Aussie Crime drama with Sam Neil.

Brokenwood Series 10
Always a favourite

James Must-a-pic His Mum a Man
Unexpected comedy of the year.
