Professor Ernst Kleist rules, whose specialty is making humans disappear. Captain Joyce Palmer is bound for Charon. Only she and a few hand-picked Marines can stop Kleist in his tracks.

This one started slowly with a lot of characters. When it took a turn to horror, I almost gave up. But in the second half it feels more like military science fiction. The action just kept ramping up until the end.

But the biggest surprise, was finding out that Sandy Schofield is the pseudonym used by Kristine Kathryn Rusch and Dean Wesley Smith
for their collaborative works.
