Troll is a 2022 Norwegian monster film directed by Roar Uthaug.
It’s about an ancient troll that is awakened in a Norwegian mountain.

Drawing on all the clichés os monster movies, the story has the reluctant plucky female lead. The old codger (Wizard), the bad bureaucrats, the army and thousands of disposable extras.

It must be stopped, can the army prevail or will it take a few outcasts to tame the beast ?

Despite all the old story tropes, this works. While exciting at times it’s never scary and delivers a believable (excluding physics, biology  etc.) story.
