Pepsi Jet

Pepsi, Where’s My Jet? is an American Netflix original documentary directed by Andrew Renzi. Its story explores the Leonard v. Pepsico, Inc. court case.

This is about a legal case where an enterprising young man saw an opportunity and took it. Pepsico advertised a points system where customers could purchase stuff, cumulating in the offer of a Harrier Jet for 7,000,000 USD.  Leonard worked out that you could get the 32+ million dollar jet by spending $700,000 on points. He tries Pepsico rejected the offer and it went to court.

It’s a story of just how stupid marketing executives can be. You see it, they were all interviewed. Plus the effect of opportunists with very big egos. The surprising inclusion was Michael Avenatti, the Stormy Daniels lawyer. He is now serving time for what I assume are ‘aggressive negotiation’ tactics against Nike.
