Fresh Meat is a New Zealand horror comedy film about a modern-day family of Māori cannibals who are taken hostage by a gang of criminals.

It stars Temuera Morrison and Kate Elliot. It is Danny Mulheron’s directorial debut. The film had its world premiere at the 32nd Hawaii International Film Festival on 15 October 2012.

This is in the general tone of Peter Jackson’s Braindead. But not as over the top, which it could do with as sometimes the blood splatter becomes a bit too realistic. This should thrive on over the top action and performances. Eventually it does, and in the final act Temuera really goes for it among the the blood and body parts.

So while it has it’s comedy and blood soaked fun, it’s not that memorable. Fortunately it’s only 90 minutes long.
